Thousands of volunteers at 14 sites pulled out accumlated trash, mostly plastic bags, from river runoff that might normally find it's way downstream into the Pacific Ocean.

The vertical garden is provided by Woolly Pocket and is part of their Woolly School Garden program. The Woolly Pocket hangers are created from 100% recycled materials. The Venice Community Garden broke ground in April, 2010. Soil tests revealed high levels of arsenic and lead because of previous uses which included a railroad line going through the lot.
