Info about print surfaces
All of my Limited Edition Prints are made on high quality print materials also known as substrates. I like to work with different materials and will make my decision about which material to use based on the subject matter in that edition and how I think the images in that edition will best be presented. While a wide range of printing materials is available, I generally work with Giclée prints and Aluminum metal prints. The list below will give you a more in-depth look at the materials and their qualities.
Giclée prints are fine art digital prints made on Ink Jet printers. Although it is an unregulated term, it generally applies to a high quality archival digital print. A number of surfaces are available, including various textures and finishes such as glossy and matte photo papers, watercolor paper, cotton canvas and others. More info can be found here - http://www.gicleeprint.net/abtGclee.shtm
Only the Giclée Prints surfaces that are used in my editions will be listed.
Metal and aluminum prints have become increasingly popular in the art community in recent years. Images reproduced on metal are unlike any other medium because the dyes are infused directly into the metal and not onto it, the prints give off a vibrant luminescence that is both breathtaking and archival.
A variety of surfaces are available, but I use a white gloss HD Aluminum surface that I believe makes my landscapes and other subjects come alive and showcases them in a way I have never experienced before.
Here’s the good news about price. Although metallic prints may be priced slightly higher than traditional Giclée Prints, they are actually less expensive in the long run as they require no framing and thus no framing costs. All our metallic prints come with a black metal float frame that is flush with the perimeter of the print (see illustration at right), and not only does that make them look very smart, but hanging them is a breeze. They are also surprisingly lightweight (but still very durable) and shipping is very easy.
