1990s NYC in B&W
During the 1990s New York City was transitioning into the city we know today. Many of the neighborhoods were gentrifying and a lot of the shops and places that made those neighborhoods what they were, were sadly disappearing. The digital age would soon upon us and it was almost as if the city was preparing for all the changes that would bring. I began photographing the city more intensely than ever before. Exploring new neighborhoods, shooting the skyline from every angle I could find, seeking out the iconic landmarks as well as the more eclectic locations of the city I had never really visited before, and capturing New Yorkers as they enjoyed life in the greatest city in the world.
