2000s NYC in Color
New York in the early 2000s was a post 9/11 city. The missing Trade Towers were a phantom limb on the lower Manhattan skyline, a daily reminder of the lives lost and the trauma that had struck the city. Life went on, but would never be the same. Long time restaurants, stores, and other establishments closed and new ones took their place. Neighborhoods such as Williamsburg, Brooklyn and the Meat-Packing District were becoming unrecognizable as gentrification swept over them as well as other communities. New York was always about change, but now it seemed like it was happening faster than ever before.
