Museum of the City of New York permanent photographic collection

These are all photos I took in the early to mid-1980s of the East Village, Alphabet City, and the Lower East Side. I am deeply honored to have these nineteen photographs recently made part of the Museum of the City of New York’s permanent photo collection. These were neighborhoods that were part of my life growing up, where I hung out, attended high school, and eventually lived in my 20s and 30s. I bartended at night and photographed by day, having no idea that this special place and time would hold so much interest to others all these years later. These are neighborhoods that I love, with people that I love, and I'm so grateful I had the wherewithal to capture just a small part of it with my camera and keep these memories and people alive.
